Founded in 1860, Panerai has been at the forefront of watch innovation for more than a century. Back in 1916, the company had invented and patented “Radiomir”, a self-luminescent powder based on radium that made it the ideal substance for underwater visibility. 

In 1936, Panerai created the original Radiomir watch prototype due to the request of the Italian navy, in cooperation with Rolex. Later in 1949, Panerai had invented a safer, more luminous, tritium-based powder and named it the Panerai Luminor. The company had also patented the now-recognizable lever-style crown that could protect the watches with a 200 metres of water resistance.

The Submersible range originated from the legendary Panerai Luminor collection. The first watch featuring the Submersible subhead was introduced in 1998. It was a diver model under the Luminor umbrella. The watch is considered as a professional diving watch featuring a case with an updated bezel inspired by the watch Panerai designed for the Egyptian Navy in 1956 and Luminor’s cushion-shaped curves. 

Holding up the legacy of Panerai’s history, the brand had released numerous models of Luminor Submersible. The watch comes with a 47mm EcoTitanium case that is 6.0mm thick in fully brushed and polished texture. This Submersible watch is powered by Panerai in-house automatic mechanical movement P.9010 calibre. The magnificent movement offers a power reserve of 3 days and features an anti-shock protection to prevent any hard situation and resist severe conditions. 

Like other Submersible watches, the Mike Horn watch has an unidirectional rotating bezel as the navigational tool.
