Know More About Patek Philippe Watches
History of Patek Philippe
Patek Philippe was founded by Antoni Norbert de Patek who was a brave soldier, a Polish rebellion. He was forced to leave Poland after which he settled in Switzerland. Once he reached the country, Antoni decided to develop his artistic abilities. Alongside that, he bought watch movements and sold off finished watches to Polish people. Due to the success of buying and selling watches, he decided to start his own company and chose Froncois Czapek as the partner.
In 1893, they started the watch company and named it Patek and Czapek. At the initial stage, there were not a lot of employees in the company due to which their watch movements had to be bought from another company. They simply bought the movements, send them out to the case maker for assembly and complete it in their shop. The company always believed in quality over quantity due to which they limited their watch production to 200 per year. Initially, the watches designed by them represented the religious traditions, history, and folklore of Poland.
Patek and Czapek parted their ways due to their continuous conflicts. In 1884, Patek visited France where he met Jean Adrien Philippe, a talented watch expert. They came into partnership in 1845 and in 1851, the company’s name changed to Patek Philippe & Cie.
In 1851, Queen Victoria of England was spotted flaunting the pocket watch by Patek Philippe that increased the popularity of the brand. After Queen Victoria, many other royal family members like Prince Alberto of Monaco and Russian Tsar Nicholas II started to approve Patel Philippe watches.
