TAG Heuer Connected Modular Watches
All About TAG Heuer Connected Modular Watches
In 2015, TAG Heuer introduced the TAG Heuer Connected watch. It was the first luxury Swiss-made smartwatch. The Connected watch featured a case style of TAG Heuer Carrera while incorporating the advanced technology from Intel and Google.
Powered with Wear OS by Google, The TAG Heuer Connected Modular is a premium option for the best quality while providing the same functionality.
The TAG Heuer Connected Modular isn't only a usual smartwatch, but a fascinating new idea from the brand. The TAG Heuer smartwatch has both digital and mechanical modules in the watch's hauls. It allows the wearer to switch the smartwatch module to a mechanical watch module. The wearers can freely enjoy the experience whenever needed.
Being well known for its luxury mechanical watches, Tag Heuer is one of the high watchmaking brands that took the lead to embrace the trend of smartwatches at the same time.
First TAG Heuer Connected watch
TAG Heuer created the first TAG Heuer smartwatch named Tag Heuer Carrera Connected in 2015. The new TAG Heuer watch was the start of TAG Heuer’s journey in the smartwatch category. The watch ran on the mainstream Android Wear operation framework which is used by the majority of smartwatch brands.
The TAG Heuer smartwatch featured a 46mm titanium case with a design that resembles TAG Heuer Carrera. There are several watch face options to be chosen such as a chronograph dial, three-hand dial and GMT dial. The watch perfectly strikes the balance as a digitally connected wearable device as well as a modern luxury watch.
Two years later the 2017 TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 smartwatch is an upgrade version of the 2015 one.
Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45
Because of the success of the first Connected Smartwatch, TAG Heuer updated the watch with a new series called the Connected Modular 45 in 2017. It is an officially Swiss-made TAG Heuer watch as over 60% of the assembling processes of the watch are done in Switzerland. It is a premium watch that you can experience the legacy of a top watchmaker brand.
The ‘45’ in its name refers to the diameter of the watch case, which is about 1mm smaller than the first Connected watch. It is 13.7mm thick and should be more suitable for larger wrists. This Tag Heuer Connected watch has a full metal case that made the watch weights 62.5g. The slightly heavy weight makes it feel more premium.
With the Google working framework incorporated, the watch can run independent applications without the need for a cell phone nearby. Wearers can feel free to change the mode from a smartwatch to a mechanical one flawlessly. It supports Android Pay, empowering contactless installments. It has got a product update to Android Wear 2.0 as well.
Another main attraction is the adaptability of the watch's face. The TAG Heuer connected watch features a watch face configuration that enables wearers to change the watch face from 30 unique faces. They're also the options of including and expelling explicit highlights, such as the SuperLuminova impact on the hands and the effect of the shades on explicit subtleties. This wide range of customization is something you cannot enjoy from a TAG Heuer mechanical watch.
There are two good mechanical module options for the TAG Heuer Connected 45 smartwatch. They are the Caliber 5 with an advanced period-and-date programmed development, and the Caliber 02T with the TAG Heuer basic tourbillon.
For this watch, there are eleven standard models with total 56 references accessible including different material options like titanium, fired, and gold-plated segments. Among the variations, the Heuer-02T tourbillon chronograph mechanical module is the most premium one. It is presented in a grand box set that incorporates an associated module and an extra dark elastic lash.
Tag Heuer Connected Modular 41
The 41mm version of the TAG Heuer Connected Modular was announced in 2018. It was an updated version with a few key improvements from the 2017 Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45.
First of all, you can see the most obvious change from the number in the name. Tag Heuer Connected Modular 41 has a 41mm case that is 4mm smaller than the Modular 45. This makes the new watch more appealing to the wearers with slimmer wrists and extends Tag Heuer smartwatches to a larger audience.
Moreover, the new model has an update on the CPU with a higher pixel density, a larger RAM, and larger storage. The recent model features 1GB RAM and 8GB storage that offers a little more space on the watch.
The Modular part of the watch is the same as with the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45. Its strap and lugs can be easily removed and switched for alternatives for different occasions. There are also options for both smartwatch and mechanical modules for this model. You can change the case freely for a Tag Heuer Calibre 5 mechanical movement for some formal occasions, and use the smartwatch module with Wear OS’s notifications and fitness tracking for workout days.
In 2020, TAG Heuer introduced the third generation of its Connected Modular Watch. Since the brand pioneered its luxury smartwatch segment in 2015, it has already accumulated a significant background in this field.
This 2020 Connect Modular model blends a good balance of classic TAG Heuer elements and an up-to-date digital experience with advanced functionalities than its other connected watches. The new TAG Heuer Connected Watch is water-resistant up to 50m of depth. You can keep it up with you when you go swimming or go running in the rain.
It features a package of functions on the sports session mode with GPS, audio streaming and heart-rate monitoring. The back of the watch houses a new non-medical-grade heart-rate sensor to optimize the tracking of calories burned. At the same time, the built-in GPS measures the position of the wearer during workouts while calculating several performance metrics.
Finally, a newly custom-designed TAG Heuer Sports mobile application is installed in the watch. It supports many sports activities like golf, running, cycling, walking, fitness and others. Through the TAG Heuer smartwatch, wearers can track their activities with key metrics such as speed, distance, heart rate, with detailed insights into their performance. It can even synchronize the data with Apple Health or Strava for better tracking. The watch also features a compass for direction, as well as an accelerometer and gyroscope.
