The origin of Tag Heuer company was started in 1860 by the genius watchmaker Edouard Heuer. The company specialized in manufacturing precise stopwatches and chronographs. For over a hundred of years, the company has been leading chronometry technology and greatly contributed to the industry. 

In 1887, the new oscillating pinion movement for the Heuer stopwatches had set a benchmark for its mechanical chronograph development. TAG Heuer Heritage Autavia Calibre Heuer 02

One of the notable models that is tributed by Heuer Heritage is the Heuer Autavia. Autavia was launched in 1962 as the first watch Jack Heuer designed. The name ‘Autavia’ was created by combining two words - “AUT” was the short form of ‘Automobile’, while “AVIA” was borrowed from the word ‘Aviation’. Hence, you can see it from the name, the creation of the watch took inspiration from the elements of both the fields – motorsports racing as well as aviation.

The Heuer Autavia was an evolution from one of its stopwatches. In its first release, the Autavia watch featured a Valijoux manual winding movement. It was presented along with a unique V-shaped tri-compact design for the three subdials.

A few years later of the launch, the iconic Autavia collection was granted the innovative automatic movement Heuer Chronomatic. This movement was created together with three other major watch manufacturers. Heuer Heritage Calibre 18
